Occasionally I find myself drawn to installation work as either a statement on it's own or as part of a whole room concept for a body of work. This second approach can clearly be seen with the series "The May Night Maidens". I had this idea of water ghosts and wanted to have the viewer feel they were under water with the ghosts. "Big Wave" was a sculptural element hung overhead as part of this whole approach idea. Another element in this series was the glowing resin amorphic pieces I placed on a dirt pile on the floor called "The Spent". These symbolized the beautiful young men lured by the Water Ghost maidens to the bottom of the river, loved and discarded and turned into jellyfish. The heart of the "Spent" slowly glows with their faltering heart beats.
